Assessment & Process
- Our Seating Specialist along with the Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist or Orthotist and family, collectively assess the individual and their requirements to design and manufacture a Foam Carve Seat
- A physical evaluation of the individual is completed: joint movement and range, sitting balance, alignment and flexibility of the spinal column including the head and neck. Many other individual practical needs and restrictions are also taken into consideration at this stage, such as skin condition, pain, spasticity, vision, reflexes, eating needs, toileting needs, breathing, transfer methods, communication needs and other factors that affect positioning.
- An impression of the individual in their ‘best seated position’ is taken, accessing compound curves that are too tight for standard planar seating systems to reach.
- Maximises contact surface area and minimises peak pressures.
- The resulting shape from the casting is then carved into a bespoke seat
- Regular re-assessment is encouraged for any adjustments to sizing. Offering 3 post-assessment fittings during 12-month period (included in price) should size adjustments be needed.
- The Superstar can be fitted to most wheelchair bases, used in conjunction with Tilt & Space Wheelbase can maximise the reduction of pressure.
